Jennifer Lopez made a splash last year in her plunging Versace hot green dress. This definitely sparked buzz about her new album, J.Lo.

Everyone watching the 2000 Grammys were shocked. The tropical-colored outfit graced little of Lopez; it’s tiny skirt billowed with the slightest breeze. The front was a V-shape cut well below her navel, leaving little to the imagination! Audience members and television viewers were all thinking, "What is she not wearing?" Lopez was a co-presenter with X-Files hunk David Duchovny, who was speechless except to say, "For once, I know everyone is not looking at me!"

Although this was the night Santana won two handfuls of Grammys, it was Lopez’s dress who stole the night! "Nobody forces me to do anything," the "Selena" star assures, saying that her scandalous dress was totally her idea. In fact, she shrugs off the hype surrounding her outfit. Well, tell that to copy-cat fashion designers and customers! She launched a fashion trend with celebrities and regular people alike. When she’s not reaching new neckline lows, Lopez is currently promoting her new album, J.Lo and new movie, "The Wedding Planner."

Lopez was a winner in the Latin explosion of 1999. Her hit single, "If You Had My Love," and steamy music video, made her an instant musical superstar. She also had another winning Latin-kissed tune, "Waiting for Tonight." Released before the new millennium, the song was played frequently in clubs and was the perfect send-out for the 20th Century.

Lopez’s rise to the top has been bumpy. Recently, she has been smeared in the news. She and her rapper boyfriend, Sean "Puffy" Combs, were arrested in December, 1999 for gun possession. Witnesses say that a gun went off, possibly by Puffy, injuring several party patrons. After the shooting, Jennifer and Puffy drove away, unknowingly with two guns in their getaway car. Puffy and Jennifer were arrested for speeding from cops, and possible connections to the night club incident. Although Lopez was later dismissed, she spent 14 hours hand-cuffed in jail, crying.

Puffy has denied the charges, and is standing trial in 2001. If sentenced, Puffy faces 15 years in prison. The media rushed on Lopez’s case, trying to find fault in the super Latin diva. "It’s a scary thing," Lopez confesses, "It’s hard to go through." Lopez, though, has remained strong, and true to her man. In fact, her newest album has influences from her boyfriend, who produced some of her songs. It looks like her life is going smoothly, for now.

Lopez’s first love was dancing, taking lessons and learning new techniques. She came onto the celebrity scene as a fly girl for the hit TV comedy show, "In Living Color." She would dance, along with others, for the opening of the half-hour program. But soon she would take center stage, as an actress. Although she had acted before, a certain role would be her major breakthrough.

Selena, a young Latin was still in the news. This young beauty’s career was cut too short, and she had now become an icon in her fans’ eyes. In the early 1990s, Lopez starred in the hit movie, "Selena." "…being that it was so fresh in the public’s mind," Lopez says, "I knew that the movie had to be true to her, and that it wasn’t about me trying to become a star in the role." Despite Lopez’s modesty, this major role catapulted her into the public eye, sealing her future as a worldwide superstar. She garnered another winning role opposite leading man George Clooney in "Out of Sight."

It wasn’t until 1999 when Lopez stretched her vocal talent. Her debut album, "On the 6," was an absolute hit. Men and women could both love this sexy siren, with her Latin good looks and winning vocals. She established herself as a serious musician, especially when she sung the moving duet, "No Me Ames," with another pop Latin artist, Marc Anthony. Now, Lopez was a singer/dancer/actress!

Lopez, nicknamed "La Guitarra" for her guitar-shaped figure, is also a good role model for many young women. Her voluptuous body proves that you don’t need to be anorexic to be beautiful! She proudly shows off her curvy attributes in her newest music video for her single, "Love Don’t Cost a Thing." Girls are cheered to see that she is not all skin and bones. Women are meant to have curves! Beauty comes in all different shapes and sizes, and Lopez is certainly gorgeous.

The year 2000 was kind to Lopez. She starred in the chilling "The Cell." Many of her younger fans could not see this film and frightened other viewers. Luckily, she has a new light-hearted romantic comedy, "The Wedding Planner," with Matthew McConaughey. Everyone will get to see Lopez be a comedic actress. The young Puerto Rican girl from the Bronx has finally made it to the big time. She has endured some major setbacks, and managed to make all of her dreams come true.

Ms. Lopez is muy caliente!
