Recently there has been a tremendous amount of attention and press given to the
fat soluble vitamin, vitamin E. Not only has it been cited as a potential anit-cancer
vitamin for women but the same can be held true for men. In a Finnish study of middle-aged
men it was found that they could lower their risk of developing prostate cancer by 32
percent by taking 50 International Units of vitamin E every day for 5-8 years. Since it
would take eating about 2 1/2 pounds of almonds every day to get this amount of vitamin E,
supplements are the answer. To reach that level you would need a natural E supplement.
A recent study showed that the body absorbs vitamin E from natural E
supplements twice as a well as from the synthetic vitamin supplements. Natural supplements
are labeled d-alpha-tocopherol; synthetics are "dl".
