	The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved Noven Pharmaceuticals, Inc.'s second generation transdermal estrogen delivery system (of 17-beta estradiol) for the treatment of the symptoms of menopause. This new patch is the smallest patch ever approved . It is slightly larger than a nickel and less than half the size of any other estrogen patch on the U.S. market. This tiny patch is available in four dosage strengths (.0375, .05, .075, and .10 mg/day), providing the doctor with more prescribing options. The patch is applied twice a week and gives a woman a steady supply of 17 beta-estradiol, the identical estrogen women produce in their bodies.
