Vagifem is an estrogen
product made by Pharmacia Corporation It is an estrogen (estradiol)
tablet that is inserted into the vagina. It's primary use is to stop vaginal
itching, pain during intercourse, and perhaps increase sexual arousal - better known as
atrophic vaginitis which occurs with the lowered estrogen levels associated with menopause and post menopause.
Vagifem works locally right at the vaginal level and is not
absorbed through out the body. It is recommended for women after menopause, check
with your gynecologist if you are not done with menopause and would like to try this
product.
Vagifem is directed towards women who have vaginal
complaints. It works only in this area and can provide relief from the symptoms of
itching, pain during intercourse and burning in a neat fashion. Prior to Vagifem there
were estrogen creams to help with these symptoms but they proved too messy and difficult
to use.
It will not help with hot
flashes,or other symptoms of
perimenopause and menopause because it doesn't work through out the body.

 we asked the experts,

by Sue Spataro, RN, BSN
Estratest is a form of HRT or hormone replacement therapy that was approved by
the FDA. It contains both estrogen and testosterone. Testosterone is produced by a woman's
body but production can decrease over time. Taking a product containing
testosterone, like Estratest, can help some women boost their sex drive and can make them
feel better, promote a sense of well being and decrease anxiety and depression. Find out
