"Cats and Dogs"

The cats are planning to scratch out humans and dogs so they can rule the world. The menacing felines are led by a fluffy Persian cat named Mr. Tinkles (voiced by Sean Hayes). They’re after a special potion that scientist Mr. Brody (Jeff Goldblum) is creating. It would prevent people from being allergic to pooches, making them more desirable pets than cats.

Mr. Tinkles sends his feline henchmen to "catnap" Buddy, so they can easily retrieve the potion. Luckily, the pack quickly recruits an adorable Beagle puppy named Lou (voiced by Tobey Maguire) to go in Buddy’s place. Lou and the other canine agents are on a mission to remain the top dogs.

"Cats and Dogs" has something for everyone. There’s slapstick humor for kids, including dogs and cats comically crashing into trees. The non-stop action will keep kids’ interested until the credits roll. Older viewers will enjoy many of the funny situations and jokes. My favorite scenes were when the cats and dogs planned surprise attacks on each other. One wicked kitty coughed up a hairball that was actually a grenade! This is one of the many funny moments in the film.

The animals steal the spotlight from Goldblum and Elizabeth Perkins (who played Mrs. Brody). Lou, the adorable Beagle pup, will melt your heart. Mr. Tinkles was a hilarious villain. It was ironic, and extremely funny, to watch such a beautiful creature plotting his evil plan for world domination! Hayes’ voicing vigorously conveys the dictatorial feline.

The movie’s special effects are impressive. Brilliant computer animation made the cats’ and dogs’ mouths move realistically. The movie’s computer-generated imagery made the animals dance, move their arms, and jump around a room. You’ll wish your pet at home had moves like these characters!
