Basset "Candy" - How Sweet!

bassetcandy.jpg (13030 bytes)Here's a great puppy pic from Jim in WV. He says, "Hello! I am so excited to find your website!
We have three moniature Dauchsunds, but recently acquired five week old Basset.
Her name is "Candy." We absolutely love her, she gives us tons and tons of laughs (and did I mention alot of kisses too)! She is now nine weeks old and already weighs 12 lbs. I am including a pic taken the evening that we got her, she is five weeks old."
Thanks, Jim, Erin, Nathan, Ryan and Allie

Sugar, the Basset from Kansas

bassetsugar.jpg (14025 bytes)Enjoyed your website - I have a Basset Hound.  Her name is Sugar and she is 6 months old.  She is very silly but a lot of fun.  She likes to chew up my stuff though.  Your Basset Hounds on your site are very cute.  I thought I would send you a picture of me with my puppy.  She is getting very big. I wanted to ask you, do you have any suggestions on how to get my dog to quit barking so much?  When she gets excited and starts that, it seems the more I tell her to knock it off, the louder she gets!

bassetsugar2.jpg (12502 bytes)Here is a picture of us snoring away! We had a great Christmas, even though I ended up eating most of Santa's treats! He must not have minded because I still had lots of goodies in my stocking!

Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,  Hailey Woodard, age 9,
Wichita, Kansas

Paper Mache Basset
& the History of Papier Mache
by Jackie Hall
papermachebasset.jpg (5641 bytes)Jackie Hall loves Papier Mache and she caught our eye with her life sized papier mache Basset hound modeled after her Basset named Bunty. So we loved the papier mache version of her Basset so much that she mailed us a picture of the "original" Bunty, the inspiration for her artwork. She says, "I have loads of toy Bassets plus ornaments as I get given them for presents, along with Basset cards! My papier mache Basset has been to quite a few exhibitions and I often get teased when I am out walking the "real" one as to which one I am with!" Come see if you can tell the difference and learn more about the history of Papier Mache!!

Moe & Curly
From David A. Ford
I really like your page on bassett hounds.  I have two, a male named Moe and a female named Curly.  Moe is very active and has tons of personality. You never know what he's going to do.  Here are pictures of the two...the puppy pictures are of Curly. Moe rarely sits still long enough to have his picture taken.  When you try, he gets excited and starts running and dancing.

The Secret World of the Basset Hound
by Evamarie Spataro
houndmovie.gif (30124 bytes)
Now you are ready to step into the secret world of the Basset. The Basset Hound was bred in France at around the 1500’s. The reason they are called "Basset" is derived from the French word "bas set ", which means low-set. So, in English, Basset Hound really means Low-set Hound. See more about this hound along with pictures sent in by our PetCorner members. Find out more and join our support group

I just love baking Biscotti in the kitchen! Of course Eva has to help me open the refrigerator and turn the knobs on the stove. Anyway, I thought this recipe is really tasty and is great for a midnight snack!

An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet
(Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet Series)
by Barbara Wicklund
coverbuynow.gif (1537 bytes)
An excellent beginners book on Basset Hounds and dog care Barbara Wicklund's Book on The Basset Hound : An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet (Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet Series), is an excellent beginners guide to Basset Hound ownership and general dog care. The text is very informative and even provides the reader with information on dog training, pet therapy and more. The pictures are wonderful and old and young alike can learn from what is presented throughout. I highly recommend it for new basset hound owners and especially children who want to take more of a responsibility with the family pet.
