Audrey Pavia, author of The Labrador
Retriever Handbook, says "The name "Labrador" as it
refers to the Labrador Retriever comes from
the area of Labrador on the eastern Canadian coast, near Newfoundland. Some historians
believe that the Labrador Retriever was originally developed in this area of North
America. The Earl of Malmesbury is believed to have named the breed around 1840."

looking at all the pictures and when I saw the picture of Hailey and her basset, Sugar I just had to send this picture..They sure do
look alot alike..My Basset, Woody loves to sleep in the chair with me and the closer the
better..He loves to cuddle and He sits up on his kind legs and gives me the high
five..What a dog..I love him to death...
